“Jeff and I met in April of 2018 on FarmersOnly. We hit it off right away and plan to be married this summer. People tend to laugh at us meeting on the site but hey, it works!! I would have NEVER met him otherwise. I even moved a state over to be with him. You just never know. He’s the love of my life.” - Candace
What did you do on your first date?
Our first date was not much to write home about as far as glamour is concerned. We’d been talking a few days and my aunt has passed away. Jeff absolutely insisted on driving two hours one way to comfort me. Of course I was worried about him being some type of crazy but he showed up and wasn’t. He sat with me on the couch and listened to me talk and cry. My four rambunctious children were there too. They were teasing us. I was shocked when he actually agreed to meet up a few days later. We met half-way and enjoyed dinner together. It was more of a date. I’ll always appreciate Jeff for sacrificing sleep to come to comfort me. He was so gracious that night.
When did you know that he was the one?
A few weeks or so into our relationship Jeff and I were talking on the phone. He paused and suddenly blurted out, “I know you will think I’m crazy and I know I shouldn’t probably say this but I’m going to say it, I love you!” I wasn’t ready for it. I knew he was an awesome man and I knew he and I had chemistry and compatibility but the “L” word so soon baffled me. I was glad he said it but worried all at the same time. I had gone through a divorce prior so I was proceeding with caution. It honestly was the hardest thing to process. Shortly after I realized he was the one. He accepted me, my kids and my situation. He was handsome, caring and proved he loved me.
How did he propose? Were you surprised?
May 19th of 2018 while sitting in his truck in front of his cousins house Jeff shared his desire to marry me. He had a ring, it was beautiful! I made it known I wanted to marry him too. The catch was I was not legally divorced as my divorce took forever to finish. We decided to keep our intent a secret until things were officially finished with my divorce. I fully believe in signs and that day, May 19th happened to be my parents wedding anniversary. My dad passed away in 2016 and this year they would have celebrated 40 years together. Jeff had no idea what that day meant to me. I saw this as a sign, perhaps my fathers blessing. Fast forward to April 1st 2019 after he had asked my mother for my hand and properly proposed (down on one knee, exposing his heart) Jeff and I made it “Facebook Official”. His was one year to the day that Jeff inboxed me on Farmer’s Only. Jeff and I just knew from an early point that this was going to be a long term thing. I wasn't surprised by the proposal but he still surprises me with how patient he is and how he just takes so much in stride.
What is your favorite thing about each other?
My very favorite thing about Jeff is his sense of humor. He’s so funny! He can make me laugh at the most crazy things. He says his favorite thing about me is my kindness and happy demeanor.
Tell us more about your wedding plans!
We are planning a small wedding in Rogers, Arkansas. We had planned a family vacation as his family lives in that area and decided a destination wedding would be fun. We will be surrounded by our closest family and a few dear friends. It will be small and intimate. We will have our children (5 between the two of us) stand up with us and our mothers will be our witnesses (our children are all under 18). We have rented a beautiful lake house on Beaver Lake. We plan to wed in a meadow facing the lake. I cannot think of a more fitting venue. Jeff loves nature and fishing. I also love the outdoors. I cannot wait to marry my best friend.
